​Autism New Zealand offers highly regarded, evidence-based education courses to families, whānau and professionals supporting a person with autism.  We also design and deliver custom made courses for workplaces and other organisations.  We are pleased to be offering the following upcoming courses (dates subject to change—please check our website for updates 


Tilting the Seesaw

Strength-based, practical strategies to support children with autism in the primary school setting

WHAT: Tilting the Seesaw is a three-session programme in which primary school staff learn and try 
out strategies to support and include a child with autism in everyday school activities.

WHO:The Tilting the Seesaw programme is specifically designed for primary school teachers, 
teacher aides, SENCOs and RTLBs.

WHEN:Thursday 11 May (one-day workshop)
Thursday 18 May & Thursday 25 May 2017 (follow-up sessions)

Thursday 17 August (one-day workshop)
Thursday 24 August & Thursday 31 August 2017 (follow-up sessions)

FANZ (Framework for Autism in New Zealand)

Supporting an individual on the Autism Spectrum

WHAT: FANZ is a two-day introductory programme about autism that enables participants to create 
a framework for understanding and supporting a person with autism.

WHO: FANZ is specifically designed for family/whānau/caregivers, educators, health professionals, 
and anyone involved with a child or adult on the Autism Spectrum, who wants further understanding 
about autism and practical strategies, to enhance the lives and maximise the learning opportunities 
of those with autism.

WHEN: Christchurch—Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 February 20179.30am to 3.30pm both days
Timaru – Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 May 2017  – 9.30am to 3.30pm both days

Way to Play

Playing joyously with your child on the Autism Spectrum

WHAT:Way to Play is a one-day introduction to playing with children on the Autism Spectrum. 
Playing with a child with autism can be challenging, so the Way to Play workshop offers simple, 
easy to use strategies to begin playing joyously together.

WHO:  Way to Play is specifically designed for parents/caregivers/whānau, health and 
education professionals, and anyone directly involved with a young child on the Autism 
Spectrum, who want some practical strategies for how to play in fun and exciting ways together.

WHEN: Christchurch—Friday 16 June 2017 – 9.30am to 3.30pm
West Coast—Thursday 14 September 20179.30am to 3.30pm
Christchurch—Wednesday 18 October 2017 – 9.30am to 3.30pm
